    ABSTRACT
    Leprosy is a kind of skin desease in which have a long time of incubation period, healing process, therapy and intervention. There could be deformitas part of the bodies and psichology disturbance, that the client could be withdrawl from the society. Beside of this problem, the community have negative attitude and perception about the clients. Objectives: (1) to describe the relationships between perception and attitudes toward leprosy and (2) to provide information of perception and attitudes of leprosy at a particular society. Design: a descriptive correlational with cross sectional design. The population of the study consisted of adult people in Kelurahan Karangsari Kecamatan Neglasari Kota Tangerang. A sample size of 330 was obtained by cluster sampling. Independent variable was community perception, and the dependent variable was the attitudes of community about leprocy. Respondents completed questionnaires that assessed perception and attitudes about leprocy. The hypotheses test used chi square (X²) test. Result: and recommendation: indicate that there was a significant correlation (p value = 0.000) between perception and attitudes of community about leprocy; respondent that had positive perception (53,6%), negative perception (46,4%), positif attitudes (50,3%), and negative attitudes (49,7%). It is recommended to compare the result of the study with the community in different areas. The health education regarding the leprosy should be done in many areas in Indonesia.
