ABSTRACT
Menopause is a transition period of women’s life cycle that happens at the end of menstruation for the period of at least 12 months at the age of 50 years. At the age of 40 years, women start to have non ovulation menstruation due to the deterioration of ovarium’s function. This deterioration causes a decrease in estrogen and progesterone level (2-8 year before menopause). Menopause is affected by some factors such as physics, psychology, social, economy, culture and environment. The objective of the study is to explore a better understanding about the menopause of working women and also the determinant factors of the menopause. The study uses the cross sectional approach. The results of univariate analysis show that the age of respondents were mostly at 40-45 years old. The respondents with regular menstruation cycle were 38.5 %, while those who no longer have menstruation were 24,2 %. The nutrition status was generally less than 87.9 %. The family support was generally less (84,2 %). Mostly respondents have many complaints of menopause (50,5 %) and 49,5 % have less complaints. The results of bivariate analysis show that there was a relationship between respondents with good attitude and bad attitude. The OR value is 2,583, it means that the respondents with bad attitude will have complaints 2.583 times compare to those with good attitude. This study suggests that there is a need to do more efforts to improve the knowledge of respondents on reproduction health, especially dealing with menopause. These efforts could be acquired from books, journal articles, seminar, and discussion. It is recommended to be active in sport and have better nutrition status.
